From the mix tips

Don't let high frequencies cut your words.

A de-esser is a specialized dynamic equalizer or compressor designed to attenuate harsh sibilance: the sharp high-frequency s, z, sh and ch sounds in a vocal.

  1. 01

    Targeted frequency detection

It watches one high band, typically between 4 kHz and 10 kHz, where sibilance sits.

  2. 02

    Dynamic gain reduction

Unlike a static EQ that cuts all the time and dulls the track, it only turns down when the sibilance crosses a threshold.

  3. 03

    Seamless restoration

The moment the harsh sound passes, the gain comes back, so the vocal keeps its air, detail and brightness.

Which de-esser do you go to on vocals?

The story

One day at a time.

I look back at where I was a year ago compared to now. I am much more confident in my work, I am dedicated to my goals, and my main focus is impact.

Thank you to all music artists who inspire me and push me to see a different perspective. And thank you to my team. The fans. The youngings, the experts who have been doing this long before me, and my peers who surprise me daily.

Work with me

Three ways into the room.

  • 01

    Recording, mixing & mastering

Tracked, mixed and mastered in Pro Tools, built around a clean, organic vocal.

  • 02

    Solo artist mentorship

Someone in your corner who challenges you, keeps the vision and gets the record finished.

  • 03

    Production

Soulful beats and full instrumentals, built track by track.

From an idea to a record, in three steps.

  1. 01

    Send the idea

A voice note, a demo, a reference. DM to discuss availability.

  2. 02

    Record it

Tracked clean, with the vocal and the direction worked out together.

  3. 03

    Mix and master

A record you can release, and an artist who knows why it works.

Your next record starts with a message.

DM to discuss availability. A voice note is enough.
